Philippines’ Prayer Points

The following are some specific ways to pray for the Philippines. For more detailed information, get in contact with an OMFer in the Philippines.

  1. Pray for continued peace and stability. Militant groups in Muslim areas and Communist groups struggling against the government sometimes threaten peace and order. Their activities greatly affect missionary work in remote areas, the places where pioneer ministry is most needed.
  2. Pray for unity amidst diversity. A growing number of Philippine churches and organizations minister here. Many foreign organizations still do, too. We long to love one another in such a way that the Gospel will permeate all of society.
  3. OMF seconds many of its members to Filipino groups. Many of them are the only foreign worker in that place of ministry. Pray that they learn from their local co-workers. Also pray that they make a positive impact on the Philippines church.
  4. Some OMFers minister in remote tribal areas. They can face loneliness. Their ministry exposes them to certain dangers. Pray that the peace and love of the Lord will rule and permeate their lives.
  5. The Philippine church is alive and expanding. 9% of the population is considered evangelical. Pray that these believers will be passionate about reaching the other 91% for Jesus Christ.
  6. Though there are now many churches, most are small. They often lack the leadership and finances needed to multiply. Ask the Lord to help them grow. Pray that they will focus on growth within themselves.
  7. A church needs leadership to grow. The leaders of small churches are often non-trained or under-trained. Currently, several interdenominational programs are seeking to address this need. Pray that the trainers will understand the specific needs. Ask God to show them the locations where they should focus their energy and resources.
  8. Filipino pastors and leaders appreciate seminars. However, some just go from one to another. This does not provide the continuous type of training they need. As a result, their ministries are not going deeper and deeper. Pray they will see the need to focus on a specific type of training.
