Unreached Indigenous Groups

What does 'unreached' really mean? It means several things when referring to indigenous peoples in the Philippines.

First, it means physically and geographically difficult to reach. These people do not live on well-traveled roads. To reach them, you must ride motorcross bikes or mountain ponies or hike through forests and across rivers.

Second, unreached often refers to people groups who have not yet been reached by the government and its resources. The arm of the law does not stretch that far. Schools and educational amenities are not always available. There is no post office or health clinic.

For us, however, unreached is much more significant. Unreached means people who have never heard of Jesus. It means people with no local church in their midst. It means people who cannot hear the Word of God and the explanation of the Gospel. If they die in this situation, they will be eternally separated from God. They will be eternally unreachable.
