Teaching and Training Ministries

OMF seconds missionaries to various organizations and institutions to support the teaching and training of future pastors, church leaders and missionaries. Below are some in which we are involved.

Alliance of Bible Christian Communities of the Philippines

The Alliance of Bible Christian Communities of the Philippines (ABCCOP) has 300 churches in urban and rural areas plus 150 tribal churches. Many of the workers and leaders of these congregations need further training. The ABCCOP Christian Theological School (ACTS) started in 1965 to meet this need. It is unique in that its teachers go to the students for classes. OMF is involved in this vital ministry.

Please pray:

  • for the graduates who are faithfully serving in their churches
  • that teachers will teach the whole Word of God
  • that students will persevere in their studies and put into practice what they learn

Biblical Seminary of the Philippines

‘Equipping God’s workers with God’s Word for God’s work’

Founded in 1956, BSOP focuses on training Chinese to do ministry to Chinese in the Philippines and elsewhere. In spite of relatively small numbers, it offers a full seminary program in both Mandarin and English. The core residential program offers a broad, integrated, holistic, and demanding approach to academic, physical, spiritual and relational life. OMF provides teaching staff to BSOP where possible.

Asian Theological Seminary

Asian Theological Seminary (ATS) is an evangelical, interdenominational graduate seminary committed to training Christian workers for Asia and beyond. At present, approximately 300 students are enrolled in various studies of Christian ministries. Most of them come from the Philippines, but many also come from other Asian countries. The staff of professors represent diverse ethnic backgrounds. OMF is one of the sponsoring mission agencies. We send teachers and are involved in ministering to international students and a Buddhist focus ministry team.

OMF Literature

OMF Literature seeks to help people become more like Christ through excellent literature. By God's blessing, it has become the largest publisher, importer and wholesaler of evangelical Christian literature in the Philippines. The material it distributes proclaims the Gospel, nurtures believers, and equips church leaders.

It seeks and uses new formats, modern designs, contemporary language and fresh approaches while maintaining integrity and honesty in handling the message. Its policies and daily practices strive to reflect God's care. It aims to competently handle its business operations and be efficient stewards of the work.

Prayer request:

  • Major revision work is being carried out by some 25 Filipino Bible scholars on the text of the New Filipino Version. This is the first Tagalog Bible project of OMF Literature. Also please pray for funding (approximately P1.5m)

Mindoro Bible College

Situated in the town of Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro, Mindoro Bible College (MBC) trains workers and leaders for the rural churches in the Philippines. MBC offers a variety of courses ranging from seminars and summer school to four-year degree courses. On weekends, its students minister in local churches, most of which are members of ABCCOM District (Association of Bible Christian Communities of Mindoro).

Although OMF started MBC, its Director and staff are now mostly Filipinos. They continue to value missionary input and to welcome missionaries as faculty. Life and ministry there is simple and includes some inconveniences. Housing is often quite modest, and the food is simple. Living on campus opens further doors of ministry to the students. We hope to help expand the prayer base of MBC and to help prepare newsletters to inform people of its developments and prayer needs.

Koinonia Theological Seminary

Koinonia Theological Seminary is based in Davao, Mindanao. Its vision is to see godly, reproducing leaders serving the church as transforming agents in Asia. We biblically equip men and women for holistic ministry through graduate and lay-level programs in missions, counseling, Biblical studies and pastoral ministry. By combining biblical and theological studies with practical ministry skills formed alongside faculty and peer mentors, students are prepared for the challenges of ministry that make a difference.
