Serve-Asia Program

The Serve-Asia Program is specifically designed to facilitate short-term visits to the mission field with OMF. Come to the Philippines for anything from 6 weeks to 1 year.

  • Stretch your faith
  • Tell Filipinos about Jesus
  • Help OMFers make disciples
  • Train in mission
  • A springboard for future service

Why Short-term?

Read this report from a recent Serve Asia Worker!

Short-term trips provide great opportunities to experience a different culture. Working through our personal issues and prejudices, we discover which aspects of our faith are cultural and which are Biblical. This can greatly improve our own walk.

Involvement in overseas trips can provide guidance for the future. Responding to new situations, we gain insights about our gifts and abilities. We see the sort of service for which we might be suited. And we gain a greater sense of urgency about Gospel proclamation.

Short-termers can often have a unique and strategic role. Being younger and less threatening than long-term missionaries, we can often get into more situations, open new doors and develop new contacts. We can make friends with and get alongside the local people we are serving.

Our presence, interest and help can encourage long-term missionaries.

  • Helping church planting teams
